Helio Drift Camera Phone EvaluationHelio Drift Camera Phone Evaluation | Evaluating the Samsung Helio Drift The Helio Drift camera phone from Samsung may seem like many other slider cellular phones we’ve seen lately. Although it can’t be called sleek, the Helio Drift is compact and lightweight enough to fit easily in a pocket or purse. This particular cellular phone is somewhat offbeat with unique and hip features that will appeal to the youth market. One of the most outstanding and unique features with the Helio Drift camera phone is the built in GPS technology that has the capability to make use of the GPS-enabled Google Maps for Mobile. This is a miniaturized version of Google Maps designed just for the cell phone application that lets you track your friends and family via cell phone. This “Buddy Beacon” application could make getting lost in a crowd a thing of the past. It’s also packed with other features such as Bluetooth, instant messaging, MySpace Mobile integration with a dynamic news-feed aggregator called Helio On Top. A 2.12 inch QVGA color display showcases the colorful menu. The interface of the Helio Drift camera phone has bold, modern graphics that are arranged in a circle rather than the traditional grid style. You can adjust the screen's backlight time, the font size, and the style, but adjusting the screen brightness and contrast isn’t an option with this cellular phone. The Drift comes with a 1000 entry address book, 20 polyphonic ring tones, video caller ID, Web Browser and micro SD card for music uploads since Helio doesn’t have a music store. This cellular phone comes with a 2 megapixel camera that has multiple resolution settings. It also can be set for white balance, color effects and photo frames. A self timer and flash are included. Adjustments can be made to the shutter and sound. You can also block calls when in camera mode, as well as choose the location of the saved media. With the video camera you can change the resolution, frame rate and lighting. The video camera also has mute control and color effects. The Helio Drift camera phone comes with a photo studio program allowing you to edit photos and videos with different filters, effects and stickers. You can also fade between frames, overlay, resize, rotate, flip, stretch, and swirl your photos. With a sticker price of about $225, the Helio Drift camera phone isn’t cheap. However, the abundance of features is more than able to make up for the higher price tag. The Drift has an average talk time of 3 hours and standby time of about 7 days. Overall the Helio Drift camera phone by Samsung is a good multimedia cellular phone in the mid-range market.
